Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has pinned the club’s goal scoring challenges on the lack of positional awareness.

He said this in a post-game interview after Kotoko lost 2-0 to Nations FC that condemned the Porcupine Warriors to a fourth loss in a row.

Kotoko’s winless run has been extended to five after suffering losses to Bechem United and Kpando Heart of Lions to rank eighth  in the 18 team Ghana Premier League standings.

In the midst of Kotoko’s poor run, the Porcupine Warriors haven’t scored more than a goal 11 games into the 2024-2025 season.

After calling for the need to find solutions to the team’s bad run of results, Dr. Ogum blamed the lack of positional awareness for Kotoko’s poor goal scoring return. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“I think it’s a lack of awareness, positional awareness. We are able to carry the ball into the final third of the opponent and especially when you get into the penalty area, you need to be aware of where you are. Once you are aware of where you are, you know the decision to take.”

Kotoko head coach Dr. Ogum

“The game is about taking decisions and before you can take a decision, you must be aware of where you are standing in and out of the penalty area and I think we need to work more on positional awareness.”

Big win. Bigger ambitions. Nations FC downs Kotoko 2-0 to climb to the top of the league. The rise continues💪🏾#WIFW 🔵🟠⚪️ 🦅 #NationsFC #NFC #LottoSports #Zonda pic.twitter.com/tm2csdYRUy
