Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has indicated that “hatred” towards him and players of Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team played a role in the team’s poor performance in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
In the lead up to Ghana’s final 2025 AFCON qualifier, the Black Stars have officially missed out on qualifying to compete in next year’s tournament after drawing 1-1 with Angola to rank bottom in the Group F standings.
Ghana takes on Niger in the final 2025 AFCON qualifier against Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, November 18 at 16:00 GMT and Otto Addo believes the team might have been mentally affected by “hatred coming from outside”.
“I think the base in these qualifiers are the home matches…to be honest we played well but we lacked scoring goals and I think it’s a complex thing it’s maybe more psychological. Surely there was a lot of hatred coming from outside against me and against maybe the team and I can just assure you that I think in all, sometimes it affects the players and we need support that’s all.”
