“GFA is as confused as Otto Addo” – Kudjoe Fianoo

Ghana League Clubs Association Chairman Kudjoe Fianoo has criticized the Ghana Football Association (GFA), describing it as a confused entity, following the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

His remarks come ahead of a scheduled meeting of the GFA Executive Council later on Wednesday, where members will discuss the future of the senior national team in the wake of this historic setback.

The Black Stars’ failure to qualify marks the first time in two decades that Ghana will miss out on the continental showpiece.

Mr. Fianoo has called for deep introspection within the GFA, attributing part of the blame to past decisions, including the controversial appointment of Otto Addo as head coach, which he believes contributed to the team’s struggles.

They are confused, they are confused, the GFA itself, they are confused as well too.

They are confused as the coach himself.

They don’t know what they are doing, haven’t we appointed technical directors in the very near past?

We had Chris Hughton as technical director when we went to Cameroon, because that was another case.

Then he made a forcing to head coach.

So we are going to bring another technical director. This is a back up between technical director and coach.

We have brought in technical directors.

So why not? What is a technical director? We went to Cameroon with a technical director.

What result did we come up with?

They should just eat hamburgers, accept their failure, this monumental failure, and give way for others to come and do their job.

Ghana’s campaign in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers concluded without a single victory, resulting in the Black Stars missing out on the continental championship.

This marks the first time in two decades that the West African nation, a four-time AFCON champion, has failed to secure qualification for the tournament.
