Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren expects Ghana to score more goals and secure another convincing win against Mauritius in Tuesday’s second leg of their second round qualifying tie for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Ghana won the first leg 3-0 last Thursday, October 8, at the Côte d’Or National Sports Complex in Mauritius, with Abigail Kim, Alice Kusi and Bénédicte Simon scoring.
A win or draw will send the Black Queens through to the third round as they chase a historic first appearance at the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament.
Björkegren has urged his players to start strongly and finish the tie professionally.
“We need to make sure we start the game in the best way possible. We need to be serious, be professional and make sure to kill the game as soon as possible,” he said.
The Swedish coach also expressed concern about his side’s missed chances, saying better finishing could help Ghana score more goals.
“The negative thing is that we miss too many chances. Sometimes we are a little bit unlucky, but when it happens game after game, when you hit the post and the ball goes out instead of going in, then sometimes it is also a question of quality,” he said.
He urged the players to work on their finishing during training with their respective clubs.
“I would say that on a normal day, we score three or four goals at least. Hopefully, it is going to be better tomorrow,” he added.
