Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has stated that British born Ghanaian footballer Caleb Billy Mawuko Kporha’s debut start in a competitive game was a positive experience for the youngster.

He said this after Kporha played in the first half of Palace’s 3-2 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup.

The 18 year old right full back was replaced during half time and Glasner attributed the change to the need to protect the youngster from getting sent off especially when matched up against the dangerous Leandro Trossard.

“[He’s been working] very hard – that’s why he started today. He had the yellow card and it was not too easy playing against [Leandro] Trossard, a great player with all his pace – but it’s very positive for him” Glasner said to Crystal Palace media.

Kporha is eligible to play for Ghana through his parents and has represented England at the Under 17 level.

He made his debut English Premier League appearance on November 9 in a 2-0 loss to Fulham.
