Kudjoe Fianoo, the outgoing president of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), has lauded the achievements of his administration as he prepares to hand over office later this month.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports about his time in charge, Fianoo expressed pride in the strides made under his leadership, particularly in improving the local football landscape.

“When I took over, GHALCA was at a critical point. Looking back, I can confidently say we haven’t done badly  . It was a collective effort, and as a team, we’ve made significant progress. When we assumed office, the Women’s League wasn’t part of GHALCA. Today, we represent both male and female league clubs”

He also emphasized his administration’s efforts in empowering club managers and administrators, an area he noted was previously underdeveloped.

“Before our tenure, there were limited activities aimed at equipping managers and administrators. We changed that narrative . With support from Betway, we organized training sessions for coaches, administrators, and medical teams. Additionally, in collaboration with the University of Professional Studies, we introduced certificate courses for club administrators.”

Another significant achievement highlighted was the establishment of a well-structured and fully furnished GHALCA secretariat.

“Before we took office, GHALCA didn’t have a proper secretariat. We’ve now established one that includes a conference room and other facilities to support our operations. While there’s always room for improvement, the progress we’ve made is commendable.”

As he prepares to step down on the 22nd of January later this month, Fianoo remains confident that the foundation laid during his tenure will continue to benefit Ghana football for years to come.
