The Chairman of the MTN FA Cup Committee, Wilson Arthur, has confirmed that the prize package for this year’s tournament remains unchanged, with the eventual winners set to receive the same reward as last year’s champions, Nsoatreman FC.

“The winners will take home 80,000 cedis in prize money, 100,000 cedis for preparation towards the CAF Confederation Cup, and 2,000 cedis worth of airtime,” Arthur stated.

He concluded by discussing sponsorship efforts beyond MTN, the tournament’s headline sponsor.

“At the moment, we don’t have additional institutions on board, but there’s work in progress. There are a lot of discussions ongoing to bring more organizations into the FA Cup competitions.”

Following the thrilling Round of 32 matches in the MTN FA Cup over the weekend, FA Cup Committee Chairman Wilson Arthur shared his thoughts on the clubs advancing to the Round of 16 and expressed optimism about the quality of football to expect.

“For the Round of 16, if you look at the clubs involved, the Premier League sides include Berekum Chelsea, Asante Kotoko, Bechem United, Gold Stars, Hearts of Oak, Karela, Medeama SC, and Young Apostles. These are in-form teams, very tough and competitive.

On the Division One side, we have Attram de Visser, Northern City, Techiman Liberty Youth, FC Narnia, Golden Kids, Eleven Wise, and True Democracy. I see a very hot contest in this round, and I am so excited to see past champions still in the competition. We are looking forward to a grand Round of 16, and I’m confident those who progress will deliver great matches in the quarterfinals, semifinals, and the finals.”

This comprehensive prize structure not only incentivizes teams to perform at their best but also provides essential financial support, particularly for clubs advancing to continental competitions. The allocation of preparation funds underscores the commitment to enhancing the competitiveness of Ghanaian clubs on the African stage.
