Ghanaian sprinter Benjamin Azamati has donated GH¢10,000 to traders affected by the Kantamanto Market fire. The January 1st inferno destroyed over 60% of the market, displacing traders and causing millions of cedis in losses.

Azamati, a national 100m record holder, expressed his solidarity with the victims, emphasizing the importance of giving back to the community. The donation aims to assist traders in rebuilding their businesses and livelihoods.

“With a heavy heart, I acknowledge the devastating fire that has ravaged our community. I stand with every individual and family affected; you are not alone.

As an athlete, I know the value of opportunities to chase my dreams and to achieve success. But I believe true greatness lies in using our blessings to uplift others.

Today, I give back to those who need it most, donating this sum as a gesture of solidarity, hope and compassion. This is my birthday wish for all the mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters affected by this disaster. In addition to this donation, I am committed to raising awareness, supporting rebuilding efforts, and inspiring others to lend a helping hand.

To those who have lost so much, yet keep moving forward and not giving up: your courage inspires me. Even in dark times, we are stronger together. This donation reminds us of solidarity and courage shown by those affected”  he said in a statement released
