EPL on Citi: Africans who Stole the Show this Weekend

African players once again showcased their brilliance in the Premier League, leaving an indelible mark on their respective teams.

From decisive goals to match-winning assists and commanding performances, these stars demonstrated why they are vital to their clubs.

Here’s a roundup of some of the standout performances by African players this week.

Yankuba Minteh (Gambia)

In just 69 minutes on the pitch, Yankuba Minteh delivered a standout performance, registering a goal and an assist. With 27 touches and a pass accuracy of 62%, his efforts earned him the Man of the Match award as Brighton & Hove Albion climbed to 9th place in the Premier League standings.

Illiman Ndiaye (Senegal)

Everton’s Illiman Ndiaye was in fine form, controlling the game with 51 touches and an impressive 85% pass completion rate. He added another goal to his tally, bringing him to four for the season.

Paul Onuachu (Nigeria)

Despite their loss to Nottingham Forest, Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu finally broke his goal drought, scoring a dramatic extra-time goal after coming on for just 32 minutes. It marked his first goal in 12 appearances this season.

Dango Ouattara (Burkina Faso)

Dango Ouattara put in an industrious shift for Bournemouth, playing 89 minutes and providing his fourth assist of the season. His precise pass set up Justin Kluivert’s second goal in a crucial victory.

Antoine Semenyo (Ghana)

Antoine Semenyo continued his impressive campaign for Bournemouth, assisting Justin Kluivert’s opening goal in their 4-0 triumph over Newcastle. This brings the Ghanaian’s assist tally to three for the season.

Ola Aina (Nigeria)

Nottingham Forest’s Ola Aina made his presence felt in defense with 47 touches and an 84% pass success rate. The Nigerian also excelled in duels, winning 85% on the ground and providing his first assist of the season.

Idrissa Gueye (Seengal)

Everton’s Idrissa Gueye delivered a commanding performance that earned him Man of the Match honors. With 55 touches, an exceptional 95% pass accuracy, and two assists-his first of the season—he also dominated in duels, winning 85% on the ground and 100% in the air.
