Former Employment and Labour Relations Minister, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, has been granted bail set at GHC 500,000 with two sureties following his arrest in connection with the violent disturbances during the Nsoatreman F.C. vs. Asante Kotoko league match in Nsoatre in the Bono Region.

Baffour Awuah, a former Sunyani West MP, was arrested alongside Agyemang Duah Owusu and Joseph Kyeremeh on Monday. He has been charged with “abetment to commit crime, to wit murder” under Sections 20(1) and 46 of the Criminal Offenses Act 1960 (Act 29).

The Sunyani District Magistrate Court B, presided over by Judge Eric Daning, also granted bail to Joseph Kyeremeh, while Agyemang Duah Owusu has been remanded into police custody.

As part of his bail conditions, Baffour Awuah must submit his passport to the court registry for 14 days and cannot leave the Sunyani Municipality without judicial approval.

The case is set for a court hearing on Monday, February 17, 2025.
