The Chief Executive Officer of Nation’s FC, Kwame Twumasi Dankwa, has expressed concern over the high level of emotions displayed by football fans in the Ghana Premier League.

His comments follow the tragic incident at the Nana Konamansah Park in Nsoatre, which resulted in the unfortunate loss of an Asante Kotoko fan’s life.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Nana Pooley during this difficult time. 🙏 #RIP

We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss and strongly condemn the actions that led to this heartbreaking moment.

Speaking exclusively with Citi Sports, Kwame Twumasi noted that many fans lack a proper understanding of the game, which often leads to unfortunate incidents at league venues.

I think there are several factors which lead to this kind of hooliganism.

You see, most of our supporters don’t understand the game. They think three points is a do-or-die affair. You see, and most of the supporters are too emotional.

It’s good you always want your team to win.

It doesn’t mean you should go and fight a friend or another supporter or an away team or a home team.

I think we need to educate our supporters very very very well and I think what has happened recently will be an eye-opener for everybody to behave very well whenever you go to the stadium to watch a football match.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has scheduled an emergency meeting with the leaders of supporters’ groups from Ghana Premier League clubs on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM.

The meeting will focus on curbing stadium violence and promoting a safer matchday experience. Discussions will cover responsible fan conduct, conflict resolution, and improved coordination with stadium security personnel.
