Hasaacas Ladies CEO Urges CAF to Expand Squad Size for Women’s Competitions

Chief Executive Officer of Hasaacas Ladies, Evelyn Nsiah Asare, has made a passionate appeal to CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe to increase the squad size for women’s clubs from the WAFU Zone B region in international competitions, raising the limit from 28 to 35 players.

Her request follows Dr. Motsepe’s unopposed re-election at the 14th CAF Extraordinary General Assembly in Cairo. With a renewed mandate, the CAF president has expressed his commitment to enhancing women’s football by expanding grassroots initiatives and creating more competitive opportunities for female players.

In an exclusive interview with Channel One Sports, Evelyn emphasized that this adjustment would significantly ease the burden on clubs, allowing them to better manage player fatigue and squad depth during high-level tournaments.

if you are going to a competition and they ask you to bring only 7 technical, and that’s what they are going to sponsor and 21 players.

I want to plead to CAF, Dr. Patrice Motsepe, I salute you again because you are doing very well, please if you can make it 35, it will help us.

You just make it 35 for us, so that management, three or four slots and then the players and technical you increase it small up to 35, I don’t think it will take much money from CAF.

You go to WAFU, they have given you 21 players but you have gone there with 25 players because it’s a tournament, and injury can set in and then technical seven, what are we talking about ?

The recent Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast was a landmark event under Motsepe’s leadership, attracting a record global audience of 2 billion viewers. CAF also announced a remarkable financial success, generating $72 million in profit from the tournament.

Since taking over from Ahmad Ahmad, who was banned for corruption, Motsepe has collaborated closely with FIFA to rebuild trust and ensure stability in African football.
