Nsoatreman FC has announced its withdrawal from the Ghana Premier League, citing serious safety concerns in a recent press release.
The club pointed to troubling incidents during their matches against Asante Kotoko and Samartex as the driving force behind this decision, stressing that the well-being of their players and officials can no longer be assured.
With no viable alternative, Nsoatreman has chosen to step away from the competition.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has yet to issue an official response to the club’s request.
Should it be approved, the league would proceed with 17 teams instead of the usual 18 for the remaining 14 matches of the season.
This shift could have a profound effect on the relegation fight, where Karela United, Legon Cities, and Accra Lions currently languish in the bottom three positions.
The club’s decision follows a violent episode during their Matchday 19 encounter with Asante Kotoko at Nana Kronmansah Park.
The match was marred by the tragic death of Asante Kotoko supporter Francis Yaw Frimpong, widely known as Nana Pooley, who was fatally stabbed by unidentified assailants, casting a dark shadow over Ghanaian football.
