As Ghana gears up for two pivotal 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Chad and Madagascar, Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has introduced two new faces to his 23-man squad: Christopher Bonsu Baah and Benjamin Asare.
The debutants will join the team as they aim to strengthen their Group I campaign later this month.
Christopher Bonsu Baah: Genk’s Rising Star
Christopher Bonsu Baah, a dynamic winger from KRC Genk, has earned his first senior call-up following an impressive 2024/25 season in Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League.
After a challenging start in Europe, the 20-year-old has hit his stride, contributing three goals and three assists in 19 starts, 27 matches in general in the first division. He has played 1,739 minutes for Genk this season.
His performances have helped propel Genk to the top of the league table.

He is a product of Ghana’s Shooting Stars academy, Bonsu Baah’s flair and form make him a promising addition to Addo’s lineup.
Benjamin Asare: Hearts of Oak’s Wall
Benjamin Asare, the dependable goalkeeper for Accra Hearts of Oak, also steps onto the national stage for the first time.
A key figure in the Ghana Premier League, Asare boasts 12 clean sheets in 20 matches this season, placing him among the competition’s top shot-stoppers.

His steady hands have been vital to the Phobians’ resurgence, lifting them to third place in the title chase behind Asante Kotoko and Bibiani GoldStars.
Before moving to Accra Hearts of Oak, he was one of the standout performers for Accra Great Olympics who were relegated in the 2023/24 league season.
Both players will be eager to cement their places in the Black Stars squad when the team gathers on Monday, March 17, 2025, for a four-day training camp.
Ghana will first host Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, before traveling to Morocco to face Madagascar three days later on Monday, March 24.
