French Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyon have confirmed that Ghana winger Ernest Nuamah has torn his Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL).

The club also confirmed via a statement released on Monday, April 7, that the Black Stars player will miss the rest of the 2024-2025 season.

Ernest Nuamah suffered the knee injury in the seventh minute in Lyon’s 2-1 win over Lille in a league tie played out this past weekend.

He was replaced by French international Rayan Cherki who went on to score the game’s winner in the 70th minute that pushes Lyon to fourth place in the standings and on course to qualify to the UEFA Champions League.

“Olympique Lyon is saddened by the serious injury suffered by Ernest Nuamah, who suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee on Saturday evening. Good luck, Ernest” the statement from Lyon read.

In his second season at Lyon after moving from Danish side FC Nordsjaelland; the injury disrupts Nuamah’s fine run in the campaign that has had him score six goals and add two assists in 33 games in all competitions for Lyon.
