Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, says competing in the 2025 Unity Cup is an opportunity to test more players for Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team.

The Black Stars are competing in the four nation tournament that runs from May 28 to May 31 in London, England with Ghana, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica competing.

Addo’s list was released earlier on Monday, May 26 with the list missing big names Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, Antoine Semenyo and Inaki Williams.

However, four players from the Ghana Premier League including Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare and Kumasi Asante Kotoko striker Kwame Opoku were named in the squad and Otto Addo believes that participating in the tournament is a big opportunity to test more players. “We are using this opportunity to do further tests to test our players to see [that] they are players on a very high level and we are happy that we are getting this opportunity. For us, it is surely a good test for the upcoming World Cup games in September.”

“We have so many questions on players and I’m happy to give some new and young players some possibilities to play to show that what they can and surely after this tournament some questions will be answered” Otto Addo said.
