Brighton and Hove Albion head coach Fabian Hurzeler has commended Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey for extending his stay with the club.

His comments come in the wake of the Black Stars player signing a one year extension with the Brighton after running down his contract and on the verge of being a free agent.

The announcement of Lamptey’s contract extension was one of a handful of extensions handed to players including Jamie Mullins and Abdallah Sims.

Lamptey has been with Brighton since 2020 after moving from Chelsea and has since been a regular in the starting Lineup despite battling several injuries but having signed a one year deal to stick with The Seagulls, Hurzeler is delighted with the development and looking forward to working with the Ghanaian international.

“We’re delighted Tariq is staying with us. He wants to help the team achieve our targets and gives us great options in wide areas. We are looking forward to Tariq being part of our journey next season” Hurzeler stated.
