Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha says his “dream” has come true after completing a £62.5 million move to Manchester United from Wolves.

United triggered the 25-year-old’s release clause earlier this month, and the deal; subject to a medical and visa; has now been finalized. Cunha has signed a five-year contract at Old Trafford, with the option of a further year.

It is hard to put into words my feelings about becoming a Manchester United player, ever since I was a child in Brazil watching Premier League games on TV at my grandmother’s house, United was my favorite English team and I dreamed of wearing the red shirt.

I want to thank my family and everyone who has helped me make that dream a reality.

Cunha made a significant impact at Wolves, scoring 31 goals in 76 appearances across all competitions since arriving from Atletico Madrid in 2023.

United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, welcomed the signing:

“Bringing in Matheus was one of our main priorities for this summer, so we are delighted to have completed his signing so early in the window.”

Cunha becomes United’s first major signing of the summer as the club looks to rebuild under a refreshed sporting project.
