The Ghana Judo Association held its general delegates conference earlier today in Accra, at the Accra sports stadium media center marking a key turning point for the sport following the passing of its former president, Emmanuel Tetteh.

Held under the theme “Growth. Transformation. Evolving Together,” the conference brought together stakeholders from across the country to discuss the future of judo in Ghana. It was the association’s first major gathering since Tetteh’s death.

The topic of discussion was as follows ;

  1. Election and swearing‑in of new executives
  2. Ratification of a new constitution
  3. Presentation of annual and special reports
  4. Any other business (AoB)
  5. President of the Ghana Judo Association Kenneth Arthur

Association president Kenneth Arthur opened the session by thanking attendees for their insights.

With everything you delegates have proposed, we will move forward stronger than ever. Ghana Judo will go far, and together we’ll push our sport to new heights.

Following an enthusiastic debate, the assembly proceeded to elect a six‑member executive board by simple yes‑or‑no vote. The new officers are:

  • Samuel Kenneth Arthur, President
  • Reina Abbey, Vice President
  • Kojo Twum Baah, Treasurer
  • Kwasi Adu‑Apau, General Secretary
  • Paa Kofi Ewool, Executive Member
  • Flt Lt. Eleazer Dodoo, Executive Member

Incoming General Secretary-elect Kwasi Adu‑Apau vowed to promote the sport nationwide, describing his election as a great honour. He expressed confidence in the new board’s ability to uplift the association

Having been elected to this board, we will do everything in our power to make judo great again as we have been given the mandate by the delegates , we will do our best

Incoming General Secretary of the Ghana Judo Association, Kwasi Adu‑Apau

Elected executive member of the board, Paa Kofi Ewool, says the new administration plans to prioritize engaging younger athletes to expand the sport’s reach nationwide.

For now, the key is to focus on the younger one;  as we target them, the reach of judo naturally grows wider. We will also work to improve structures, training opportunities, and visibility to ensure judo becomes a sport for all.

Elected executive member of the board, Paa Kofi Ewool,

With a refreshed constitution and a newly elected leadership team in place, the Ghana Judo Association is poised to usher in a new era of growth, development, and renewed national engagement with the sport.
