Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club are commiserating with the family of the late Diogo Jota who passed away on Thursday, July 4.
The former Liverpool player passed away with his brother Andre Silva from a car accident sending shock waves through the football world. He is survived by his wife-he got married on June 22- and three children.
Several tributes have poured in for the former Portugal international who won the 2024-2025 English Premier League title. He played for Atletico Madrid, FC Porto and Wolverhampton Wanderers in his career.
In the wake of Jota’s shocking passing, Kotoko released a statement empathizing with Liverpool and Jota’s family stating,
“We at Asante Kotoko extend our deepest condolences to the families of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva, and to everyone at Liverpool FC during this heartbreaking time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. May their souls rest in peace.”

Kotoko are preparing to take on archrivals Accra Hearts of Oak in the President’s Cup on Sunday, July 6 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
