Ghanaian midfielder Justice Blay has issued a public apology following controversial comments made during an interview on Kumasi-based Pure FM.

Blay sparked widespread reaction after claiming he had been unfairly labelled the “only drunkard” at his club, adding, “People have been misinformed that I’m the only drunkard in the club, but that’s not true.”

He also mentioned specific names during the interview, including teammate Joseph Ablor and Guinean midfielder Mohammed Camara, alleging that Camara had once “snatched” his girlfriend ; a situation that, according to Blay, escalated to a police case after he confronted her.

“After that, I had another woman, and I introduced her to Kwame Opoku.” 😳

He used to talk to the woman, and before I realised, Kwame Opoku had snatched the woman from me.” – Justice Blay.

“In another incident,” he continued, “I introduced a girlfriend to Kwame Opoku. He started talking to her and before I knew it, he had taken her too.”

“Ablorh & Mohammed Camara were smoking shisha at the time I returned with the lady, and she got angry about me asking ” – Justice Blay.

In a letter released after the interview, Blay apologized for his comments, attributing them to “deep personal emotions” and acknowledging that his statements were inappropriate and may have caused harm.

“I sincerely regret my words and the hurt they may have caused,” the apology read in part.

The midfielder has urged fans and colleagues to forgive him as he works to move past the incident.
