Deputy Ranking Member on the Parliamentary Select Committee of Sports, Michael Aidoo, has stated that the government body will ensure that Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team, the Black Queens, are well resourced and motivated.
He said this in the lead up to the Black Queens’ quarterfinal game against Algeria in the 2024 CAF Women’s AFCON on Saturday, July 19 at 16:00 GMT in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports.
Michael Aidoo, who doubles as the Member of Parliamentary for Oforikrom Constituency, touched on reports of paid remuneration for the Black Queens stating,
“As it stands now, as a member of the committee [sports] I do not have updates but it is something that we had requested from the Minister [Sports] and the Minister had indicated that they are following up and he was sure that something will be done but we will continue to follow up and make sure that the right thing is done so that the women are well resourced and they are well motivated” he said.

Ghana’s Black Queens qualified to the Women’s AFCON quarterfinals for the first time since 2016 and will take on either Morocco or Mali in the semifinals.
