Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is looking at life without Joseph Paintsil and Alexander Djiku for Ghana’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification game against Chad.
The pair won’t feature in the tie that kicks off at 13:00 GMT on Thursday, September 4 in Chad in the first of two games for either team in September. Ghana take on Mali on September 8 in Accra.
Los Angeles Galaxy winger Paintsil missed the game due to a delayed flight from his base in Los Angeles in the United States of America while Djiku is finalizing details of a reported move from Turkish side Fenerbache to Russian club Spartak Moscow.
In a pre-game interview with GFA media, Otto Addo slammed the playing surface at the Stade Olympique Marechal Idriss Deby Itno and touched on Paintsil and Djiku’s absence. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“We have to take it as it comes…with Joseph (Paintsil) unluckily, it’s always difficult from America especially from LA, it’s very very far and sometimes if there is one delay in any flight you can’t get a connecting flight.”

“This is what happened to him and unfortunately he can’t be joining us but I’m looking forward to the next game for him to be part of the team” Otto Addo said.
