Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team, the Black Stars, will have a new pair of centre backs starting in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad.
The first of two World Cup qualification games kicks off at 13:00 GMT at the newly built Stade Olympique Idriss Itno in N’Djamena.
Adjetey and Opoku are relatively new to the team with the likes of Alexander Djiku, Abdul Mumin and Mohammed Salisu having a consistent run as starters in the team.
However, due to varied reasons, Adjetey of FC Basel and Opoku of Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir have been thrown into the starting lineup by Black Stars head coach Otto Addo for the matchup against Chad.
Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare continues his impressive run as the starting shot stopper for the national team in the wake of his brilliant performances for the Phobians and Accra Great Olympics prior.

After impressing with the Black Stars at the Unity Cup, Caleb Yirenkyi of FC Nordsjaelland, gets the starting nod at right full back.
