Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club head coach Abdul Karim Zito has indicated that the team’s chemistry is far from apt at this stage of the season.
Kotoko commenced its 2025-2026 Ghana Premier League season with a hard fought 1-0 win over Berekum Chelsea in Berekum.
Albert Amoah’s fine strike in the 80th off a brilliant assist from new signing Hubert Gyau settled the tough tie. Though Karim Zito said that his club deserved the win, he noted that the team’s chemistry is far from right due to the presence of 15 new players who joined the club in the off-season.
“I’m very happy we had a nice start here [in Berekum]; we will use that to motivate ourselves against Kwara [United]…we are still working we are not yet there.”

“We just started the league…we have about 15 players so the gelling [of the team] is a problem but definitely, this is no excuse” Karim Zito said.

Kotoko take on Kwara United from Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup first leg on Sunday, September 21 at 15:00 GMT.
