2026 FWCQ: Otto Addo credits calm atmosphere for Ghana’s World Cup Qualification

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo says the team’s ability to block out external distractions played a key role in Ghana’s successful qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana went unbeaten throughout the qualifying campaign, winning seven matches and drawing one to finish top of their group with 25 points.

The team showed renewed focus, tactical balance, and improved cohesion under Addo’s guidance, marking one of their most consistent qualification runs in recent years.

Speaking after Ghana sealed their ticket to the global showpiece, Addo admitted that past campaigns had been affected by excessive media noise and other external pressures, which often disrupted the team’s focus.

2026 FWC: “There was too much noise around the team, too many media talking points, which distracted the team from focusing on the games” – Otto Addo

“There was too much noise around the team, too many media talking points, which distracted the team from focusing on the games,” Addo said.

The team’s qualification marks Ghana’s fifth appearance at the World Cup, and their first since 2022, as they prepare to compete in the USA, Mexico, and Canada next summer.
