Manchester City made light work of Newcastle United to qualify to the final game of the 2025-2026 Carabao Cup that takes place on March 22 at the Wembley Stadium.

Man City’s progression means Pep Guardiola’s team will compete in the big game for the fifth time in 10 years and the Spanish manager says he is happy to be back competing for the title.

City’s qualification came on the back of securing a 3-1 win over Newcastle at the Etihad Stadium to score a 5-1 win on aggregate across two legs.

Ghana Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo started the game and played 71 minutes before getting replaced by Erling Haaland. Semenyo scored in City’s 2-0 win over Newcastle in the first leg.

In the final, Man City will take on Arsenal after the Gunners beat Chelsea 4-2 on aggregate in the other semifinal game.

“In March we go to Wembley again. We will travel to London again, they [Arsenal] will wait for us there. They never travel to the north [for finals] but I am really happy to be back.”

“Five ties in 10 years is a big milestone. When you win something, it helps to win more” Guardiola said to Sky Sports after the game.
