FC Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has vowed to fight back to get Barcelona back on top of the Spanish La Liga standings.
He made this vow while delivering his post-game address to the club’s media after Barcelona’s shock 2-1 loss to Girona. The loss means Barcelona have 58 points in second place while Real Madrid have 60 points.
After losing 4-0 to Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the Spanish Cup (Copa Del Rey), the Blaugrana followed it up with a disappointing result against Girona in a game that had Lamine Yamal miss a penalty and concede a late winner.
“We defended very poorly, especially in transition. We weren’t well positioned and struggled to withstand Girona’s attacks … We needed more control and fewer mistakes.”

“After losing to Atlético it was important to win today, and everyone is disappointed. We’re not in a good moment.”

“Now we have a week to work, and that’s what we’ll do. We’ll fight to come back in the coming weeks with a different mentality and a higher level” Flick said.
