President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has added a major caveat to the storyline regarding Iran’s participation in the upcoming World Cup.

Writing on his page on Truth Social, President cast further doubt over hosting Iran in the United States for the competition.

“The Iran National Soccer Team is welcome to The World Cup, but I really don’t believe it is appropriate that they be there, for their own life and safety. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP” he wrote.

The United States is one of three nations to host this year’s World Cup with Iran drawn in Group G alongside Belgium, New Zealand and Egypt.

Iran is scheduled to be based in the United States with two games slated to be played at the So-Fi Stadium in California. Iran’s game against Egypt takes place in Seattle on June 27.

However, the Asian nation’s participation has come under serious scrutiny due to its war with the US and Israel that has led to a global oil crisis at the time of writing.

Adding to the twist, Iran’s Minister of Sports, Ahmad Doyanmali stated that he didn’t expect his country to participate in the competition because “there are no conditions that would allow us to participate in the World Cup.”
