FC Barcelona delivered a blistering performance in the second half of its UEFA Champions League second leg round of 16 stage tie against Newcastle to progress to the quarterfinals.
The Spanish hammered Newcastle 7-2 at the Camp Nou to qualify via an 8-3 aggregate win after overcoming a tough first half that had the score tied 2-2 till the final minutes of the half when Lamine Yamal put Barcelona ahead 3-2 via a converted penalty kick attempt.
After struggling to find the net in recent weeks, Robert Lewandowski scored twice in a dominant second half to put the game beyond Newcastle and in his post-game presser, Barca head coach Hansi Flick was delighted with the performance of the young players in the team.
“The first half was really tough and the third for us helped us a lot. At half time we said that the solution was to play on the front foot and play our game. We did that in the second half and I am very happy.”

“I liked their confidence in the second half. We have a youthful team and for me it’s fantastic to see how they are are getting better and how they try to improve in each game” he said.

Barcelona take on Atletico Madrid in the quarterfinals.
