The Court of Arbitration for Sport has confirmed it has received an appeal from the Senegalese Football Federation challenging a decision that handed Morocco victory in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final.

In a statement issued from Lausanne on March 25, the tribunal said the appeal is directed against both the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.

The case stems from a CAF ruling on March 17, 2026, which declared that Senegal had forfeited the AFCON 2025 final and awarded the match to Morocco with a 3–0 scoreline.

CAS says the Senegalese FA is seeking to overturn that decision and be declared the tournament winners. The federation has also asked for a temporary suspension of the deadline to submit its full appeal, arguing that the CAF ruling was issued without detailed grounds.

An arbitral panel will now be appointed to hear the case, after which a procedural timetable will be set. Under CAS rules, Senegal will have 20 days to file its full arguments, while CAF and the Moroccan FA will be given a further 20 days to respond.

At this stage, CAS says it cannot indicate when the hearing will take place.

CAS Director General Matthieu Reeb said the body is equipped to handle the dispute and will move as quickly as possible while ensuring a fair hearing for all parties. The proceedings will remain confidential until a final decision is reached.
