For the third straight season, the Oklahoma City Thunder will finish the NBA regular season as the number one seed in the Western Conference.
The Thunder secured top spot with a 128–110 win over the Los Angeles Clippers, a result that also guarantees the defending champions the league’s best record for the 2025–2026 campaign.
At the time of writing, Oklahoma City holds a 64–16 record with two games remaining in the regular season.
Reigning NBA Most Valuable Player Shai Gilgeous-Alexander delivered 20 points and 11 assists in the win over the Clippers, and praised his team’s consistency and collective effort in securing the milestone.
“It’s impressive. We’re headed in the right direction. Obviously, we’re far from the finish line of where we want to go, but like I said, it lets us know we’re heading right there” Gilgeous-Alexander said according to ESPN as OKC look towards the start of the playoffs later this month.

The Detroit Pistons have also sealed the number one seed in the Eastern Conference.
