Jordan Ayew & Issahaku’s Leicester City relegated to League One after Hull City draw

Leicester City have been condemned to League One just 10 years after their historic Premier League title win, with back-to-back relegations for the Foxes confirmed following a dramatic draw against Hull City at the King Power Stadium.

The East Midlands side, now featuring Ghanaian internationals Jordan Ayew and Fatawu Issahaku, completes a bitter full-circle moment.

Their miraculous 5,000-1 Premier League triumph in 2016 had come just seven years after their last stint in League One—making this latest feat all the more painful.

Knowing only victory would keep their survival hopes alive, Leicester started nervously and handed Hull the advantage. A costly misplaced pass from Asmir Begovic fell kindly to Liam Millar, who calmly slotted home to stun the home crowd.

The Foxes responded after the break, with Jordan James converting from the spot after Fatawu Issahaku was brought down by Lewis Koumas.

Momentum shifted further when Luke Thomas fired in a close-range volley, igniting belief around the stadium.

However, Leicester’s hopes were ultimately crushed when Oli McBurnie smashed home Hull’s equaliser. Late chances came and went—Patson Daka struck the crossbar, Aaron Ramsey missed two opportunities, and Thomas saw a stoppage-time effort blocked by Semi Ajayi.

In the end, the draw sealed Leicester’s fate—marking a stunning and sobering fall from Premier League champions to third-tier football, despite the efforts of talents like Ayew and Issahaku.
