Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes says he stayed at the club despite significant lucrative offers from other clubs because he still had something to give to the Red Devils.
He made this clear while speaking on the Wayne Rooney Show on the BBC months after he was heavily linked with rich transfer offers to a handful of clubs in the Saudi Pro League.
While he acknowledged the significant offers from the Gulf nation, the Portuguese playmaker said he decided to stay at Man United despite the club’s struggles because he had more in the tank.
“I stayed because I thought I still had something that I can give back to the club. Obviously the Saudi situation, with the money… there was a lot. The good thing I have in my family is that my wife is pretty down to earth like me.”
“The words of my wife were like, ‘have you achieved your dreams? Have you achieved everything you wanted? And that small thing she said made me understand that she’s on the same page as me. Let’s keep trying and see where this takes me” Fernandes said in his interview with Man United legend Wayne Rooney.
In 30 league games this season, Fernandes has eight goals and 18 assists.
