Two time French Open champion Carlos Alcaraz has announced that he won’t compete in the 2026 edition of the tournament.
Alcaraz made the announcement on his Instagram page prior to the start of the tournament next month where he is the defending champion.
The Spanish player’s ongoing issue with a wrist injury has forced him to withdraw from this year’s French Open. The injury has also forced him to withdraw from competing in the Barcelona Open and Italian Open.
“After the results of the tests carried out today, we have decided that the most prudent thing to do is to be cautious and not participate in Rome or Roland Garros (French Open), while we assess the situation to determine when we can return to the court.”

“This is a difficult time for me, but I am sure we will come out of this stronger” he said on Instagram.

22 year old Alcaraz won the 2024 and 2025 French Open and won his first ever Australian Open title earlier this year.
