Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has named six players from the Ghana Premier League (GPL) in his latest Black Stars squad, underlining a renewed focus on domestic talent ahead of the international friendly against Mexico.

The selected players ; Salim Adams, Solomon Agbasi, Razak Simpson, Ebenezer Adade, Ebenezer Abban, and Gideos Aseako   have all been rewarded for consistent performances in the domestic league.

Their inclusion forms a significant portion of the squad and reflects Queiroz’s intention to evaluate in-form local players as Ghana continues preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Midfielder Salim Adams is widely regarded as the standout among the group. The Medeama SC player has been one of the league’s most influential figures this season, combining physical presence with an attacking threat from midfield. Standing at 1.88 metres, Adams has scored 11 league goals, several of them from set-pieces, and brings prior experience from Ghana’s U-23 side and the Black Galaxies.

In goal, Solomon Agbasi has emerged as one of the most reliable performers in the GPL. The Hearts of Oak goalkeeper has recorded six clean sheets in eight appearances this season, earning recognition for his reflexes and command of the penalty area. His selection highlights the growing trust in domestically based goalkeepers within the national setup.

Defensively, Nations FC captain Razak Simpson provides leadership and experience. The centre-back, who stands at 1.90 metres, is known for his composure on the ball as well as his physical strength. Simpson has already featured for the senior national team, making his debut in late 2024 and scoring during the 2025 Unity Cup.

He is joined in defence by Dreams FC’s Ebenezer Adade, a versatile 23-year-old capable of operating both at right-back and in midfield. Adade has previously represented Ghana at U-23 level and has been a regular presence in his club’s defensive line.

Gidios Aseako rising Ghanaian professional goalkeeper is a who currently plays for Dreams FC in the Ghana Premier League. Born in Accra on January 19, 2005, the 21-year-old shot-stopper has quickly become one of the league’s standout performers

The selection of these players is seen as recognition of their form and tactical adaptability, with Queiroz using the Mexico friendly as an opportunity to assess depth within the squad.

With Ghana preparing for their World Cup opener against Panama, the inclusion of locally based players suggests a broader strategy to integrate domestic talent into the national team framework while maintaining competition for places.

The Mexico match is expected to provide a valuable test for these players as they seek to translate their club performances onto the international stage.
