With two games left in the 2025/26 Dutch Eredivisie season, former Black Stars captain Andre Ayew’s NAC Breda are staring relegation in the face.
Breda must win their final two matches and hope 16th-placed FC Volendam loses both of theirs to avoid dropping out of the Dutch top flight. NAC currently sits 17th, six points behind Volendam.
The club’s survival hopes suffered another major blow after losing an appeal seeking a replay of their match against Go Ahead Eagles over claims the club fielded an ineligible player.
The Dutch Football Association had initially dismissed Breda’s complaint regarding the eligibility of Eagles defender Dean James. Breda subsequently challenged the decision in court, but the appeal was rejected.
The court ruled that the Dutch Football Association has discretionary authority over decisions on replaying matches, effectively upholding the federation’s original ruling against NAC Breda.

Andre Dede Ayew, who is the Black Stars all-time leader in appearances, joined Breda in January this year and has a goal in 15 league games. NAC take on Heerenveen on Sunday, May 10.
