Musician and songwriter Kofi Kinaata has joined growing public conversations over Ghana’s squad selection ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, urging fairness in the process.

In a post on X, Kofi Kinaata appealed to the technical team to ensure deserving and active players are given a fair chance if discussions on the final 26-man squad are already ongoing behind the scenes.

“We beg waa, we’re waiting for the Final WC 26 Man Squad. If the selection process is ongoing backstage too, kindly make it free and fair for the active deserving players.. because we all dey watch some,” he wrote.

His comments come at a time when several countries preparing for the World Cup have started unveiling their squads. One of Ghana’s Group L opponents, Croatia, is among the nations that have already released names of players expected to represent them at the tournament.

Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz and his technical team have intensified preparations ahead of the World Cup.

According to a statement from the Ghana Football Association on May 12, the team compiled 200 individual video reports to assess player performances, while 170 matches were monitored live.

The statement added that 30 matches were attended in person, with 75 players kept under continuous scouting surveillance and 30 players subjected to direct live observation.

Medical assessments and fitness evaluations have also been prioritised to ensure players remain in peak condition ahead of the global showpiece. Ghana will play Mexico in an international friendly match on May 22.

Dear GFA 🇬🇭⚽️,
We beg waa, we’re waiting for the Final WC 26 Man Squad. If the selection process is ongoing backstage too, kindly make it free and fair for the active deserving players.. because we all dey watch some. Thanks! From a Patriotic Ghanaian ✊🏾😎
