Myres Manuel Odonkor Jnr won the Accra edition of the 1v1 Africa Football Challenge on Sunday, claiming the GHS100,000 grand prize after a series of standout performances at the AIS Astro Turf in East Legon.

The competition featured one-on-one contests that tested players’ skill, creativity and composure.

Odonkor emerged as the overall winner, while Opoku Elvis finished second to earn GHS50,000. Chris Mensah placed third and received GHS25,000.

Senyo Martin was named Best Goalkeeper and took home GHS30,000 for his performances between the posts.

More than GHS400,000 in prize money was distributed to participants.

The event, hosted by music star Mr Eazi, combined football and entertainment, with one of the day’s highlights being an exhibition match between Mr Eazi and Ghanaian actor Sulley Sadik.

The Accra tournament follows the successful launch of the competition in Lagos, Nigeria, with organisers confirming plans to expand the concept to other cities across Africa.

Speaking after the event, Mr Eazi praised the quality of talent on display and reiterated the competition’s aim of creating opportunities for emerging footballers.

“Ghana showed up today. The level of talent we saw on this pitch was incredible. What makes 1v1 Africa special is giving players a platform to express themselves and be seen. After Lagos, it feels great to be here in Accra and this is only the beginning of what we want to build across Africa,” he said.

1v1 Africa is a football competition platform founded by Mr Eazi to promote individual talent and street football culture across the continent.
