The San Antonio Spurs have a mountain to climb to get back in the NBA Finals after falling 2-0 in the best of seven game series to the New York Knicks after suffering a 104-105 point loss in Game Two with superstar Victor Wembanyama at the centre of the loss.
The French player grabbed a rebound with the game tied at 104 and with 12.7 seconds remaining, he attempted a pass to Stephon Castle on a fastbreak. However, the ball bounced off Castle’s back who had yet to turn and receive the pass and the ball ended up in the hands of Jalen Brunson.
Wembanyama fouled Brunson immediately forcing the latter to shoot free throws. Brunson scored one of his two attempts to win the game for the Knicks as they head over to New York for Games 3 and 4 in the series. US President Donald Trump is expected to attend the game where the lowest ticket is in line to cost as much as $8,000.

Speaking after the game, Wembanyama rue the turnover by stating,

“That’s the most frustrating thing: to throw it away after putting in all this work. I threw that one away. I messed up. It’s like the body reacts quicker than the mind. We needed to win that game. This game was ours.”

“At this point it’s done. Am I going to regret it? Yes, of course. Am I going to use that to fuel me and fuel us to the next game? Absolutely.”
