Australian sprint sensation Gout Gout has pulled out of competing in the upcoming World Athletics Under-20 Championships.
This year’s competition is scheduled to take place at Hayward Field in Eugene in Oregon from August 5 to August 9.
Over 300 athletes will compete in 45 events in the event but one of the biggest stars in track Gout Gout won’t feature in the competition due to injury.
In a statement, the 18 year old Australian sprinter stated that he had suffered a hamstring injury while training for the upcoming competition.
Gout Gout rose to fame by running the 100 Metres race in a time of 10.04 seconds as a 16 year old and holds the 200 Metre Under-20 World Record by running a time of 19.67 seconds to beat Usain Bolt’s record of 19.69 seconds.

“I’m very disappointed but I have no other possibility but to accept the situation. I understand this is part of athletics. My focus now will be on my rehab in the coming weeks and months and ensuring I come back in 2027 better and stronger and faster” a section of Gout Gout’s statement read.
