Ghanaian sprinter Isaac Botsio has ended a remarkable collegiate career at West Texas A&M University as a seven-time NCAA Division II national champion.
Botsio’s biggest achievement was winning three consecutive NCAA Division II Outdoor 100-meter titles from 2024 to 2026.
His run began in 2024 when he clocked 9.98 seconds to win his first national title and break the 10-second barrier.
He successfully defended his crown in 2025, running 9.94 seconds, before completing the three-peat in 2026 with a winning time of 10.07 seconds.
Botsio’s championship success, however, began before his historic outdoor run.
In 2023, he won the NCAA Division II Indoor 60m title in 6.62 seconds and finished runner-up in the outdoor 100m final in 10.03 seconds.
He also helped West Texas A&M win three consecutive NCAA Division II national titles in the 4×100m relay from 2023 to 2025.
Botsio has also established himself on the international stage with Ghana.
He represented Ghana in the 4×100m relay at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after helping the team secure qualification at the World Athletics Relays in The Bahamas.
He has also competed at the World Athletics Championships and helped Ghana win gold in the 4×100m relay at the 2024 African Championships.
His collegiate success has therefore gone hand in hand with his contribution to Ghana’s international relay team.
Botsio also combined his athletic career with academic success at West Texas A&M.
In 2025, he was named NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Scholar Athlete of the Year and earned multiple All-America honours during his collegiate career.
His ability to maintain that level of performance while balancing academics, collegiate competition, international travel and national-team commitments further underlines the consistency of his career.
Botsio leaves West Texas A&M as a seven-time NCAA Division II national champion, including three consecutive outdoor 100m titles, an indoor 60m championship and three 4×100m relay titles.
The collegiate chapter is over. The next challenge now awaits.
