Ghana international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku says he is eager to begin a new chapter at Ipswich Town after completing a permanent move from Leicester City.
The 21-year-old winger has joined the Premier League newcomers in a deal worth £20 million, signing a five-year contract that will keep him at Portman Road until June 2031.
Issahaku arrives after Leicester City’s relegation from the Premier League and will now be part of an Ipswich side preparing for its return to the English top flight after earning promotion.
Speaking after sealing the transfer, the Ghanaian expressed his excitement about remaining in the Premier League and helping his new club establish itself among England’s elite.
“Yeah, finally. I’m happy to be here and can’t wait to get started. The Premier League is an amazing competition and every player dreams of playing in this competition. I’m happy to be part of this family, to be in this competition and to fight for Ipswich Town,” he said.
Ipswich Town are back in the Premier League after bouncing back from relegation, with the Suffolk club aiming to cement their place in the top flight following their return.
For Issahaku, the move presents an opportunity to continue his development in one of the world’s most competitive leagues while becoming a key figure in Ipswich’s bid to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.
The Ghana winger will also be hoping regular Premier League football strengthens his position with the Black Stars ahead of upcoming international assignments.
