Cape Verde head coach Pedro “Bubista” Brito has stepped down after leading the country to a historic run at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He has signed a two-year deal with Moroccan club RS Berkane.
The Cape Verde Football Federation confirmed his departure on Tuesday, August 4.
Playing at the World Cup for the first time, the Blue Sharks held eventual champions Spain to a goalless draw before reaching the Round of 32.
Cape Verde’s campaign ended with a spirited 3,2 extra time defeat to 2022 world champions Argentina in the knockout stage. The federation said it will announce a new technical team in due course.
“The Cape Verdean Football Federation informs those concerned and the general public that, as of this date, Mr. Pedro Brito (Bubista) has stepped down from the position of National Team Coach.”
“The Cape Verdean Football Federation takes the opportunity to thank Mister Bubista for his dedication, professionalism, and contribution to the development of the National Team’s sports project” a section of the statement read.
