Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo says he is delighted to reunite with Danny Welbeck after the pair previously played together at Brighton and Hove Albion.
Caicedo made the remarks during Chelsea’s pre-season tour of Hong Kong, where Welbeck and Jordan Henderson linked up with the squad after signing two-year contracts with the Blues.
The 35-year-old Welbeck enjoyed an impressive 2025-2026 Premier League campaign, scoring 13 goals and providing one assist in 37 appearances for Brighton.
Welbeck is the latest player to swap Brighton for Chelsea, following Joao Pedro, Levi Colwill, Moises Caicedo, and Robert Sanchez.
“I’m so happy he’s [Welbeck] signed. He is going to be so important for us and I’m looking forward to playing with him again.”
“As a player and as a person, Danny is top. He helped me a lot when I arrived at Brighton.”
“He was so important for me and to have him here at Chelsea, it feels good. I’m so happy to have them [Henderson and Welbeck] at the club because it’s going to help the younger players with their experience” Caicedo said.
Caicedo is coming of a fine run with Ecuador at the 2026 FIFA World Cup that ended at the round of 32 stage after a 2-0 loss to Mexico.
