Spain’s Sports and Education Minister Milagros Tolón says her country deserves to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup final ahead of co-host Morocco.

Spain, Portugal, and Morocco will jointly stage the tournament, but FIFA is yet to decide which nation will host the final amid reports of intense competition for the showpiece match.

Spain heads into the tournament as the reigning world champions after beating Argentina 1-0 to win the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

FIFA on Wednesday, August 5, denied reports that it had offered the final to Morocco in an effort to secure support for President Gianni Infantino, who has come under pressure following his failed attempt to sell a stake in FIFA to a private investment group.

Speaking to Cadena SER radio, Tolón said Spain is the most deserving host for the 2030 World Cup final, stating:

“The most important thing is that FIFA has already denied it. We are working with FIFA and our next meeting is in September.”

“We’re going to keep working because we want and we believe the World Cup final has to be held in Spain. We deserve it and we’ve always been committed to it taking place in Spain.”

“Firstly, we are world champions in both the men’s and women’s World Cups. Secondly, Spain and Portugal jointly put forward the bid for the 2030 World Cup, with Morocco later joining them.”
