American Tennis player Frances Tiafoe says he is not the same person he was a few years ago after sealing his place in the 2026 US Open semifinals.
Tiafoe said this after beating fellow American Alex Michelsen in a marathon five set game that had the eleventh seed Tiafoe dig deep to recover from two sets down to score the impressive win.
Tiafoe registered a 5-7, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, 7-6 (10-6) win over Michelsen to inch closer to winning his first tennis major.
After reaching the US Open for the third time in his career, Tiafoe said he needed to wake up after losing the second set.
“Everyone was asleep in the first couple of hours, I was too. As it went along the energy was incredible as it is always. You guys are rooting for me and I appreciate that.”

“I’m just a different person in general. Those two runs were great, something I will cherish forever, but I’m not that person who I was when I made one in 2022 and when I made one in 2024. I’m not that person” Tiafoe said.
