American tennis player Frances Tiafoe is disappointed after missing another chance to reach his first Grand Slam final at the 2026 US Open.

Tiafoe lost to fellow American Ben Shelton in five sets, 6-4, 3-6, 3-6, 5-7, despite winning the opening set. The victory puts Shelton one win away from becoming the first American man to win a Grand Slam singles title since Andy Roddick in 2003.

The 28-year-old Tiafoe, who is yet to feature in a Grand Slam final, has now lost in the US Open semi-finals three times. He expressed his disappointment after the defeat to Shelton.

“It’s been a great season for me, but also, you know, this one is tough. I want to do the thing, man.”

“I want to be a Grand Slam champion one day and just get back to the drawing board and keep working.”

“I just want to win it, man. I mean, the love is incredible. I’m going to probably feel sorry for myself the next couple of days, but after that, I can start working again and get to Turin” Tiafoe said.
