Real Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho has praised Ivorian winger Yan Diomande for his improved performances after the teenager registered his first goal contribution for the club.
Diomande provided an assist in Real Madrid’s 3-2 win over Elche, marking his first goal contribution since joining the Spanish giants.
The 19-year-old moved to Real Madrid from German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig for €125 million, with a further €15 million possible in add-ons during the offseason.
After struggling to make an impact early in the season, Diomande has started to find his footing, according to Mourinho.
“He’s improving. Physically, you can already see he has minutes in his legs. The understanding with his teammates is also growing.”
“Now the understanding is better. He has a very good work ethic and intelligence. He managed himself very well and did great work for the team. I’m happy.”
Diomande is in line to feature in Real Madrid’s crucial tie against city rivals Atletico on Sunday, September 20.
