Manchester United came from behind to draw 1-1 with Fulham at Craven Cottage, with Matheus Cunha scoring an 89th-minute equaliser to rescue a point for Michael Carrick’s side.

Fulham took the lead in the 63rd minute when Lisandro Martinez turned the ball into his own net.

The goal came after Fulham captain Calvin Bassey saw his effort blocked by United goalkeeper Lammens. The ball fell to Martinez, who inadvertently directed it into his own goal.

United had chances before falling behind, with Bruno Fernandes hitting the post in the first half after being picked out by Cunha. Marcus Rashford also went close, while goalkeeper Lammens kept United in the game with several important saves.

Fulham threatened regularly and had four of their nine first-half shots on target, while United managed only two efforts on target from 17 attempts before the break.

United increased the pressure late in the game and eventually found their breakthrough in the 89th minute.

Dorgu picked out Cunha on the edge of the box and the Brazilian’s effort took a deflection off Affengruber before finding the bottom corner, with Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno wrong-footed.

United pushed for a winner in the closing stages and earned another corner in added time, but Fulham held on to secure a share of the points.

The result means United have won only two of their seven matches in all competitions this season, with just one league victory from their opening five matches.
